This is brilliant and welcome news.

No-one should be forced into homelessness.

Now it’s time to extend the move-on period to 56 days permanently.

Well done to all involved in making this happen, it will make a huge difference! 👏💜

'Unsafe, isolated, unwelcome'
This is how so many refugees & other migrants are feeling right now.
But these changes can be stopped.
One simple thing anyone can do is sign this petition, from a group of refugees determined to defeat these anti-refugee plans:

No one should feel unsafe, isolated, and unwelcome, especially people recovering from trauma and conflict who need to settle and to rebuild their lives.

Solidarity with all people currently living in unsafe asylum accommodation.

Starmer wants to change the ECHR to to defeat "the forces of hate and division".

Yet really, he is bowing to the forces of hate and division.

The only people who dislike the ECHR are people with contempt for refugees.
2/ Today, Keir Starmer marked Human Rights Day by beginning discussions about potential changes to these long-standing protections.

Alongside the wider erosion of refugee rights and the Government’s proposed “one in, one out” system, people’s lives have been reduced simply to numbers.

🧵1/Today on #HumanRightsDay, we’re marking 75 years of the European Convention on Human Rights and 25 years of the Human Rights Act.

These protections currently feel increasingly fragile. Across the immigration and asylum system, rights are being rolled back, especially for people seeking safety.

Today's Child Poverty Strategy leaves thousands of migrant children - 40% of all children in poverty - out in the cold.

Every child deserves the same chance to thrive.

Poverty is a political choice. The Govt's failure to act for all children falls short of the scale and urgency of the crisis.

So why should migrant children?
