Had same experiences before, totally understood your feeling. It is sad that people think in different directions (or act at different pace). Sometimes so difficult to build an agreement. Maybe just leave it for the weekend and rethink it on Monday. You may then find a solution....

I don't know if I could also be attracted by the title of 'thinking like a mountain' (I like it, too, though). I bought the book, read it, and several years later when I decided to quit my job to pursue a phd, I changed my major to ecology.

"... can I fully mourn the loss of something that I never experienced myself?" This reminds me of the question I have been thinking about my home, an even more difficult case-when living in remote places with beautiful landscapes (forests/grasslands...) is related to poverty

But the interesting part is that my colleagues (we went for the visa interview together as a group) received their visa the next day after the interview.
