This budget is just one step forward, but it is in the right direction.
More needs to be done by this government to improve investment in key sectors in our region, and to bring more high skilled, high paid jobs to the North West, but the Mayoral Revolving Growth Fund will hopefully go some way to achieving this in Liverpool City Region and Greater Manchester at least.

The tax rises on mansions are a clear signal that Labour understands that the wealthiest in society need to pay their fair share.

The tax rises on mansions are a clear signal that Labour understands that the wealthiest in society need to pay their fair share.
One of GMB’s missions is to make work pay, many of those in receipt of benefits are already in work, so we support the increase in the minimum wage and the move towards phasing out age differentiation so that younger workers can make ends meet.

Many of our members are working parents, and this move will ease pressure on household finances.

Every child deserves a fair start in life. The Child Poverty Action Group described the two-child cap as the “biggest driver of rising child poverty in the UK”, and we welcome it being scrapped as a long overdue step to eradicating child poverty in one of the richest countries in the world.
