Such a cool layout

Had the privilege at the weekend of helping run Andy Gautreys little slice of 1950s Cuba at the Taunton model railway exhibition

I do - though it's been a while (as you can probably tell from the content!) Vantage point is the footbridge over the WCML that connects the park to Conway Gardens

If you want to get actual over and under you'll need a telephoto but it should work.

Some "railfanning pics" of our layout RS Tower from Stafford show at the weekend...

And the other is an Alkem models 41xxx series car built from their etched brass kit, a further Abrams as load, set up as the previous one.

This will form one end of the eventual train so it's also got a dummy EOTD attached to the coupler.

The 4 flats so far brought up the rear of a mixed freight.

Two more off the workbench in time for a run out at the Stafford show, another of the Spring Mills 40xxx series trio loaded with a pair of Abrams (3d prints from eBay) - tanks set up for transport with the turrets reversed and the barrels secured with wire.

6071 was the very first SD40 built, the first of what turned into a lineage of several thousand SD40s, variants and derivatives - it was unique in being built on a shorter SD35 frame so no distinctive porches...

Kitbash of Atlas SD35 and GP40 parts.

Next off the workbench and having the decider tweaked, IC6071, a unique and historic loco, the real one is now preserved - I've set this up to run with the WC SD45 behind to be a mid 00s Canadian National pairing...

And I finished the second car this week, I picked up 3 Spring Mills DODX flats from a friend and got the first one weathered and loaded. This one has a further Bradley, plus an M88 based on the Minitanks kit...

More to follow when I build it 😉

So this first car is a repaint on a nice MTH 60' flat I had in 60s UP paint, car repainted to a more modern look as an HTTX vehicle, load of two Bradley's (3d prints from eBay) and Alkem tie down chains

Found out a bit later that the Bradley's armour has changed over the years but I went with it 🤷

I seem to be in a fairly productive modelling phase at the moment, one thing I've started working on is a long term (I expect a couple of years work largely due to budget) project to build a military train for the RS Tower layout...

Finished this a few weeks back

This is in no way a confusing message to be giving out on a shared use path. 🤷🙃

Not much different down here, I reported this a week or two back and they "cleared it" by someone snipping the tendrils on the right hand side. 🙃

Sorry to hear, have Medite liveried 66709 pulling out of Felixstowe North back in April 2007

Nice to see the scaffolding deck hiding the roof at Bristol Temple Meads is finally coming down.

It'd be rude not to....

You'd get a nice view of Moor St station and the HS2 site from the Primark cafe if it wasn't for the stickers over the windows!
August 1, 2025 at 3:16 PM
The station is a lye.

Worse, the opposite turning is a local theme park, and there's no safe way to cross that road for any families that get the bus out to it.

Green means good tho eh? 🤷
