Out of curiosity, are the “tier 1” units like CAG & DEVGRU directly subordinate to USASOC & USNSWC, or does JSOC allow them to bypass those commands?

Agreed, however this admin is also particularly guilty of letting its own ideological biases & corruption dictate procurement & strategy. We’ve seen it with the Army drastically scaling back JLTV & block “E” Apache buys in favor of defense VC grifters & “cult of the operator” bullshit.

At some point we’re gonna need to make a ship that is significantly under the $1 billion mark, both to bulk up fleet numbers & to provide a useful command billet for junior officers.
