The report reflects both LRI's strong foundation and the real challenges that remain—from late referrals to staff shortages to gaps in bereavement support. It's honest work that we hope can serve as a practical resource for others working in similar contexts across the region.

This collaboration brought together Global Treehouse and LRI—a mission-driven provider with nearly 20 years of palliative care experience in Western Kenya—to strengthen and document their paediatric palliative care model.

This resource tackles a critical challenge: conversations around serious illness and death are often avoided due to fear and cultural taboos. When families are equipped with better information and providers have tools to navigate sensitive conversations, children receive better care.
