So when I need to actually do ironing, the hat suddenly becomes homeless. The obvious place for it? On my head. So yeah I iron in an overly large sun hat. As all normal people do.

So it now lives on my ironing board (as every lazy housespouse knows, the ironing board doubles as a clothes horse when it’s not in use). Very rarely I actually need to *use* my ironing board for non-hat-related purposes…

The basic story of the ironing hat is that once upon a time I bought a very bulky hat to protect me from the sun, whilst on holiday. Upon getting it home I realised it doesn’t fit in any drawer without getting crushed.

I’ve worn mine almost daily since September, and they’ve held up perfectly.

Also TIL it’s really hard to photograph the inside of a shoe…

Generally with wearable stitching I’d encourage an iron-on backing to cover the stitching but… pretty much impossible to iron the inside of shoes. So loop finishes, instead of knots to minimise rubbing and keep it as flat as possible.
