The modern mind is conditioned to evaluate rather than understand. We have so many challenges in London but one fact is irrefutable - there are thousands of citizens who give their life to this community without any reward because they know they are needed. They are the best of us.

The need is great but I have learned over 40 years at the London Food Bank that our community is greater. I know this is the season for giving but we thank all of you for your abundant giving year-round. We take our challenges in-stride because you always have our back.

It's amazing to think that all of these boxes will be full by the end of this weekend thanks to the marvellous generosity of Londoners. Special thanks to Business Cares and the hundreds of volunteers making it allo possible. Given these challenging times, it's appreciated more than you know.

Vital days ahead for the London Food Bank. With so many groups asking for assistance, added to the 40+ agencies we already assist, it's clear our community is n a food insecurity crisis. The food bank board is already hard at work discerning how to respond. Help if you can ... and thank you.

Tim Horton's Smile Cookie Campaign has ended, but what support!!!!!! There are 74 London locations (4th largest in Canada) and Tim's will soon be announcing the donation totals to the London Food Bank and Tim's camps. It will be significant and will help the 40+ other agencies we assist.

The great paradox of public life is that when governments retreat, non-profits quietly advance. They absorb the shock of unjust cuts with a steadiness rooted not in budgets but in moral conviction. They become the humanitarian reach of government - its last remaining hope.

Our parents and grandparents fought a war to give us peace and freedom. Then they came home and built a country to match. Let's do the same, respecting our distinctions and commonalities. Let's pick up their torch and build again, with kindness and understanding. Our kids deserve it.

We were delighted to have received a $100,000 donation from an anonymous giver yesterday. The donor understood the pressures we are facing and the timing was perfect. London is a city of giving and we thank everyone for affirming it time and time again.

Our world is presently disorienting and troubled. Volunteers know that, even feel it themselves. But they handle it not by belittling others but by building them up, not by picking sides but choosing community. We'll prevail because of them. #LdnOnt

At the London Food Bank, we have a large network of people and organizations dedicated to helping hungry families. It has expanded over the years, understanding that through collaboration and connection we accomplish more together than independently. It's a marvellous, organic thing.

London builds itself on many great qualities, but we are at our finest when we care about others. The "truest language" - it will prove essential to our future as a city.

The @londonfoodbank.bsky.social is no longer just feeding the hungry - we're trying to shape this city’s conscience around its children, reminding us that every full stomach is an act of civic renewal. Too many of our infants are at risk.

The hardships of our era have dimmed the light of the child inside us, leaving it timid and cautious. Yet it still whispers of wonder, play, and hope. Only by joining hands across our differences can we coax it back to life.

On this day in 1957, Lester Pearson won the Nobel Peace Prize. He had no idea it was coming. All he could say was "gosh." We honour his effort ... and his character. My kind of guy. No lobbying. No brash promotion. Just a dignified approach to humanity.
