I never thought a musical would mean so much to me or change the way I see things now, but it and Ragtime, and Parade (I call all three as the "Dark Americana" genre of musicals) are some of my favorite musicals because they're equal parts full of showstopping numbers imo and fucking bleak stories.

Because it made actual sense of the kinds of people that would do this, the culture that spawns and nurtures them, and the ultimately petty reasons they justify it. Plus, it gives me an excuse to post this whole scene from the show's original off-Broadway soundtrack:

Ironically it was the musical Assassins (which I've talked about on here before) with its own surrealist "conspiracy" of the other successful and unsuccessful assassins of American president essentially giving Lee Harvey Oswald a pep talk to pop JFK that firmly made me stop believing theories.

- This proves in some ways FFV is the best of the SNES Trilogy
- Feminists were right when they said the video game industry has a female representation problem (I know, shocker!)
- Why ain't FFIII here? (Though I suspect it might tie with IV maybe)
- I wanna see this with other Square franchises!

I looked that movie up where I learned it's actually based on a 47 page novella!

It's either that or (just because these are the only other prominent magician names I know) Cross Angel, or maybe John Edward (the self-proclaimed psychic medium who could "talk to the dead").

The fuck? That's like if the Golden Gloves didn't have their category for Musical or Comedy (maybe the Oscars should have that too idk 🤷).

Also, we live in an age of often lone wolf mass shootings, where the backgrounds of shooters are often a lot like Oswald's (Charles Whitman terrorized the UT-Austin campus three years after JFK in 1966). And attempted political assassinations still occur on US soil. Ask Steve Scalise about Baseball.

In all sincerity, growing up in an age of mass shootings, I find it not unbelievable that an ex Marine with decent aim and firearm training, along with a history of radicalism and spousal abuse towards his wife, would ultimately express that impotent rage on even the US President and kill him.

I have. It could apply here as well, along with my observations posted above.

Political fanboys hate it when politicians do, you know . . . actual politicking.

Like, let's see how this plays out, but if you're desperately looking for a Messiah, you might as well go back to church.

Guys, the Trump White House is the Used Car Dealer of administration, and anyone who's heard stories from those who work in the resort industry know that those people are the raunchiest, most depraved fucks to ever walk the earth. There are nightmare anthologies about the conventions that they hold.

Like that cliche in a movie where the wife congratulates her husband for pulling off something impossible, then slaps him hard saying, "Don't you EVER do that again!"

I guess for me somewhat, it was the novel To Have and Have Not by Ernest Hemingway, perhaps his most casually racist novel. And I generally like Hemingway's work, even w his blatant shortcomings.

For short story, it's The Short Happy of Frances Macomber (also Hemingway). Grew to hate all 3 leads.

I'll admit, I bought a copy due to Overly Sarcastic Production's Halloween special (I know, I know, your own justified opinions towards that channel), but her summary of the twists and turns really intrigued me. In many ways, it is the proto-modern Soap Opera. No wonder they keep adapting it!

Any book made you go like this? (Can be figurative.)

My guess is St. Peter isn't as "central" to the pop American understanding of Christianity, thus ain't as "controversial" to include other than Jesus, the guy whom everyone's got an opinion of, and for many against their will, so it's just easier to not have to delve into that messy matter I guess.

I keep thinking how Trump's first victim, on his road to what he is now, is the best possible version of himself. Fascists imo always become fascist first and foremost to themselves, literally sanding away any and all recognizable humanity they have. And when that's done, target outward at others.

So, albeit from skimming through it, a winning campaign would promise something like:

"I'll keep prices LOW, and wages HIGH!" And sells equality as "a fair shake for all!"

(I've kinda thought that was the case, and reflective of my theory of "voters are consumers who want appliances".)
