We’re continuing to work with school boards to find a fair way to offer youth passes that covers the cost of buses and operations.

Transfer times are already 105 minutes from 6pm to 10.30pm, and unlimited overnight.

The proposed increase from 3pm-6pm is to address an issue we’ve seen when people are transferring multiple times in a single trip. Quite rare & temporary while LRT is under construction.

Well we can agree on that then - the cancellation of the original project was a bad decision.
I think transtway/busway tunnel was examined waaaay back but that’s before my time.

Yes light rail is part of a multi year program but it is still a budget item that we have to account for.

Easy to forget that the transitway through downtown was at capacity by the time the train launched in 2019. That bus commute was becoming more and more untenable with every season.

Safety and security are an “internal desire”?
A multi-billion dollar investment in light rail is merely a “nice line item”?
We may have to disagree on this.

It is affecting travel time. A bus that gets stuck in traffic, construction etc between Moodie and Tunney’s in either direction can impact subsequent runs. Big choke points on Queensway, holly acres, pinecrest, Carling, Scott, parkway.

And yes travel time by bus compared to train will be less. 👍

I should have written “adding to budget costs in 2026” because that is a combination of operating and capital
November 26, 2025 at 9:13 PM
…and the transfer from train to bus will be limited to west end traffic whereas at Tunney’s the transfer is for all trips west: Stittsville, Kanata, Barrhaven, plus local routes to Westboro, downtown

- Buses no longer mixing with car traffic from Eagleson to downtown, which is the main cause of reliability issues
- train is now operating at 99.5% reliability, significantly higher than buses.
- faster speeds = shorter commute times
