Am obviously not anywhere near the first person to point this out, but I think it's a pretty useful framework. AI is also a nuts-and-bolts logistical nightmare for a workforce that is constantly being harassed, threatened, and forced to defend their work. They are fixing/fending off AI bullshit

so it's not exactly obvious to me that B&T did anything wrong with their metadata product other than walk into a problem that clarivate already demonstrated with the whole metadoor thing. anyway 404media does superb work covering libraries, sub 404media today

the OCLC suit its is own horrible can of worms too; MARC records aren't obviously copyrightable (sweat of the brow/feist v. rural telephone), but OCLC has aggressively pursued litigation to keep anyone else from creating open MARC databases, often using tort claims in place of dubious copyright ones
