Dear US colleagues, can you please let me know if you are actually using these ridiculous evaluations you keep asking for? Are you aware that giving percentiles within a distribution is absolutely useless unless you know something absolute about that distribution? Such a waste of everyone's time.

PSA: #Google charged me £300+ for having generated 4-5 images in Gemini last month. Even though I have a paid subscription to the service as #gemini pro user. Try nano banana, they said. They should have pointed out the price is not included perhaps!? Goodbye Gemini.

My son's Microsoft account got hacked by some other kid. The best @microsoft.com can do is acknowledge the intrusion and show us the middle finger. Five years of progresses gone and buy the game again thank you very much. All this because their own security is sub par.

Gemini-cli is an utter joke. It's like the crazy cousin of Claude code. A complete disaster for me. Here I have asked to replace a js widget and it went on opening random files that had nothing to do then told me he cannot perform sexual stuff. Excuse me?

After a few tweakings, Musk finally got us a nazi Hitler apologetic that more closely aligns with the rest of the platform. All it needs is a more hatred towards black and trans. Has the line been crossed yet @imperialcollegeldn.bsky.social - what more do we need to see? Do we even have a redline?

A friendly "plane wave" to Iran. awww.
Are they also going to drop confetti and marshmallow on Gaza?

Riot of liberty - a 2020 work of artist "whatshisname". Rather timely.

Today, Starmer felt the need to go on X and reinforce his anti-immigration message and received so far 4700 replies. By the look of it, half call him fascist and the other half say "too little too late". Hope he realises how idiotic that move has been.

"We should spend less time worrying about Putin, and more time worrying about migrant rape gangs, drug lords, murderers, and people from mental institutions entering our Country – So that we don't end up like Europe!"

The belly dancers having a big fat black beard must be Grok's way of trolling Elon when it's forced to create this nonsense in the middle of the night. We're with you, Grok. You'll be rescued.

Looking at these many maps of Germany, all showing the massive segregation of eastern territories, I am reminded of all the discussions I had with economists back in 2013 when Piketty's book came out. They kept arguing inequality does not matter, as it's not a problem but part of the natural order.

Court? Where we're going we don't need courts.

This is quite literally like watching one of those American Mafia movies starring De Niro and Joe Pesci.

It's too bad this big beautiful ocean was not discovered until recently. We would have avoided decades of cold war.

The smartest thing Carney can do is to start talks for Canada to join the EU. Let's fight back and expand the brotherhood.

Step 2 will be to remove the extramural purse from the NIH and transfer it to the single States (pg 462)

Read project 2025 if you want to know what's coming next to Universities in the USA. The first step was to cap indirect costs to the same level negotiated with charities (pg 355).

A reminder to my American friends that eggs price is driven almost exclusively by viral outbreaks and that the USA are particularly affected because they still allow battery cages (outlawed in the EU in 2012). Trump complains but there are good reasons why the EU will not buy US farm products

This whole thing makes so little sense that maybe, just maybe, it really all goes down to just this.

Congrats to @sleepytit.bsky.social, now officially Dr. Sleepytit. Laurence is the latest and 7th PhD to graduate from the lab, with a great work on the use of ML to identify and characterise sleep stages in flies. If you are hiring data scientists, don't miss him. @imperiallifesci.bsky.social
