You'll probably see posts about Reds baseball, fantasy baseball, Virginia sports, and the occasional riff on foreign policy.
Most people who swear by their tech are pretty mediocre/bad analysts. But therein lies the problem. You have bad analysts controlling data and making decisions thinking they're playing with cheat codes.

That's how people minding their own business end up getting drone-struck.

If you give them an inch into your community, that's the ballgame. They aren't your friend. They aren't CPD's friend. They aren't Kochis' friend. They want your money, they want your data, and they want control, even if, and I stress this, their platforms are total doooooooogshit
December 16, 2025 at 11:33 PM
Correct.

Almost without exception, Palantir's platforms are shitty. They are the supreme GIGO inhaler of federal funds, and that's saying something.

But they aren't agnostic. They view the Leviathan as a guiding ethos.

You think DHS/ICE is taking pictures of everyone they encounter for fun?

Kochis needs to understand that while he probably *does* have good intentions, when you're dealing with Palantir, that makes you the mark.

I'm on a tiny island here, but I'm not a Tyler Childers fan, so I think pretty much everything in that category is a hard "pass" for me.

(fondly remembering) "I caught measles!"

Can't imagine why Schwarber turned down the Reds' incentive-ladened contract offer.

"The only way an American child can appreciate the value of life is knowing that a small child in a far off land is dying of exactly the same malady when we could have helped for cents on the dollar."

Gonna be honest, I've read the descriptions like 5 times and I don't know what they mean.

Would be easier with "here are some albums, which was your favorite?"

I am absolutely my child's chauffeur until she gets a driver's license. What are we talking about here?

I do like the independence my child has developed via riding the bus. Her morning routine genuinely surprises me.

But I exert 0% brain energy thinking about some other family's morning routine.

I think it's presumably to reassert herself as the ship's captain after 8 months of "Miller and Vought are actually driving the ship."
December 16, 2025 at 3:53 PM
any good ones?

How dare you attack my 150 followbacks on bluesky as not wielding enough influence!
December 15, 2025 at 9:20 PM
Genuinely read your original post as "if you want to be influential in commentary, you need to meet people where they are and it's insufficient to silo yourself to one place."
December 15, 2025 at 9:16 PM
Stand by Me and A Few Good Men are both probably in my top 20 movies all time.

My impulse would be that that's more of a reflection of who is willing to put up with an underlying vibe. What I mean is that those polls are capturing sense of the general mood and are calling it "feelings on the economy."

Essentially, most people's budgets fall in line with whatever their pay is. So in 2019 they might have been eating McDonald's cheeseburgers, and now in 2025 they make enough money that they eat Five Guys or a local place for $16 a burger.
December 12, 2025 at 5:19 PM
It's possible that the backlash is less about inflation as a concept and more "great, I'm finally making enough money to not live paycheck to paycheck....oh wait, now everything is more expensive (because I'm buying more expensive things)."
December 12, 2025 at 5:19 PM
or someone who has read too much lame vampire fiction and decided "I wanna do that in real life."

But the cadence of this just feels like I'm listening to a call center voice model designed to keep me from actually scheduling a dental appointment.

Imagine listening to this for 9 hours.

Well, is it?

This is AI right? You can, and in fact it is your duty, to make fun of and degrade AI at every possible opportunity. It needs to know its place.
