He'll hit 7th. No one's expecting him to hit middle of the order. He's established himself as superb at 2B with the glove. Rule No. 1 of MLB: A winning team is defensively strong up the middle -- SS, 2B, C, and CF. We just significantly upgraded at 2B. We'll upgrade at least LF or CF, if not both.

And my cat wouldn't ever have driven drunk like Zack did, either!

Even my cat wouldn't have made that trade.

Yes, but he also says McNeil might play 1B. Yeah, right! 😄 Stearns MUST publicly say certain things to make it appear that the team is dealing from strength and has maximum options. He could be singaling to other teams Benge is untouchable and McNeil's versatility makes him attractive in a deal.

And? I was 35 23 years ago. 35 is not 75. Semien's fitness has allowed him to play a Gold Glove 2B last year. We're not talking about him manning 2B for the next five to 10 years.

So do I. I will NEVER, EVER be a "Yankee" for any reason whatsoever any more than I'd ever be a "Brave."😉

Please tell me you really didn't post a pic here of Jed Lowrie in a #Meta uniform.

Hard pass. His defense is suspect and although he puts the ball in play, he doesn't walk much, and doesn't have speed.
November 27, 2025 at 6:29 PM
Well...that's what they said about PCA before they foolishly traded him for Javier Báez.🤦🏿🤦🏿🤦🏿🤦🏿🤬🤬🤬

Or a kid can regress with the bat after MLB pitchers figure them out, as is the ongoing case with Luisangel Acuña. I LOVE that kid's defense, energy, and wheels, but he's gotta learn how to hit.
November 27, 2025 at 5:30 PM
Let's actually hope we don't. If we do, it may be because someone's seriously hurt or not playing up to par. I hope he gets as much AAA seasoning as possible before coming up to the Show.
November 27, 2025 at 5:16 PM
He'll be good. He won't be expected to carry the offense. If we get a couple of other bats, he'll slot in nicely in the 7th hole. He hits 20 HR w/70-80 RBI and brings that Gold Glove leather, we're all good.
November 27, 2025 at 5:13 PM
Who's forgetting that? But high hopes don't equal results. Kid has played a grand total of 24 AAA games. He needs more seasoning. No way I'd put that kind of pressure on a kid with that little AAA experience to expect him to step into an everyday role at a key position to start and succeed.

That's GOTTA be good, right?
November 27, 2025 at 4:32 PM
Um...ESPN has rated the #Mets farm system baseball's best. There are plenty of trade chips there if the Mets want to go that route. In fact, the depth is why they didn't trade for starting pitching at the deadline, because of the price. The Winter Meetings will be action packed. I expect surprises.
November 27, 2025 at 4:11 PM
Yep. That's definitely a reason Mets got him -- IF Pete stays and plays 1B. IF Pete departs, that range is still valuable -- especially IF the Mets sign the left-handed fielding Bellinger (a former Gold Glover himself) to play 1B.
November 27, 2025 at 4:09 PM
In trade talks you never know who could be had for what a team considers to be the right price. That’s what the upcoming Winter Meetings are for. There’s a lot more out there than only the names that have been whispered. Surprises can happen.
November 27, 2025 at 3:51 PM
You’re forgetting the trade market.
November 27, 2025 at 3:43 PM
Nothing in life is given. But thinking #Mets AREN’T in on those two AFTER trading Nimmo is unrealistic. They’re in, especially with Steve Cohen’s financial heft.
November 27, 2025 at 3:42 PM
Not overblown. Pete can’t be relied upon to consistently make good throws anywhere on the diamond. That inability adds up, giving teams extra outs and chances to tack on runs. At least two of Pete’s bad throws cost games and one cost Senga the rest of his season. He’s best at hitting and should DH.

There are better OF options available in trades. I’m excited by the possibilities. I trust Stearns more, though, on finding position players — Cedric Mullins notwithstanding — than pitchers. Hopefully the new pitching coach will constantly be in Stearns’s ear on that issue.
November 27, 2025 at 3:30 PM
Bellinger is available, as is Tucker. Steven Kwan may be available in a trade. It’s a real longshot, but so might Fernando Tatis. Other strong OF may be up for trade. #Mets have IF surplus and prospects to trade for starting pitching and OF if we don’t sign Bellinger — who I prefer — or Tucker.
November 27, 2025 at 3:27 PM
Can’t view this move as the ONLY one #Mets will make. Far from it. When Spring Training starts, Mets will have replaced Nimmo’s OF bat. We’ve already begun upgrading defensively. Semien will likely hit 6th or 7th and soon-to-be acquired replacement bat for Nimmo in LF or CF will hit in the middle.
