UK photographer focussing on human interactions with the landscape, both urban and natural. The more mundane the better! Lover of long running adventures in the mountains. Trustee at Mind Over Mountains.
Back to a quieter week for this weeks Photoweek. We have a Christmas focused Light Around The Home, more nocturnal running and a urinal. Yes you did read that correctly 😁 Enjoy! giles.li/3KOj4BH

In this weeks Substack, I continue my theme of urban exploration with a camera and turn my attention to car parks. Yes, car parks. Please bear with me, and hopefully it will make sense. giles.li/48VDmT0

Just checked to see what I was doing this time last year and what a surprise, I was mooching around The Fens photographing random stuff 😂📸

Have a great weekend folks!

Ok so maybe my Ely By Night photography project is getting a little out of hand, as you will see from this weeks photoweek. When not out running at night, I managed to extend my Light Around The Home project as well, along with some additional explorations near and far. Enjoy!

Had a wander around Eye, Suffolk on Sunday with our youngest. Initially to see the ruined castle but the light was so good, it created some wonderful compositions in the village too.

This one takes us back a few years to the point I realised there was more to #photography than big vistas and mountain views. A few trips to London with my camera opened my eyes to the photographic potential of urban environments and I’ve never looked back.

More nocturnal 📸 running adventures last night. I think I may be becoming a little obsessed 🤔😂

In this weeks #substack I turn my attention to one of my favourite photographic subjects, the humble telegraph pole. This artificial forest that provides a technology canopy to our country and has become a bit of an obsession of mine. giles.li/4alHr44

A quieter week photographically mainly consisting of shots for my Light Around The Home and Nocturnal Ely projects. There was also a woodland walk with family and a few other randoms to enjoy. giles.li/3M0fNj6

Throwback Tuesday: This week we head to the Highlands of Scotland, the summer of 2023 and this old tractor. I just loved the combination of colours and, if I’m honest, it brought back happy memories of my youth, working on the farm during harvest 😁

Like them or loath them, these beauties are here to stay and I guess are emblematic of my photographic muse, the human landscape. This one in particular caught my attention earlier this week. It had a real Orwellian feel to it, like it was standing there watching me 😳

This week we go back to Christmas Eve 2021 and the shore of Lake Windermere in the Lakes. I took this shot on my phone while out for a dawn run. It was so peaceful. The perfect antidote to the mayhem that is Christmas.
