Absolutely. He made the surf music sound so simple, but when you look at the layers he used it’s mind blowing, and would not have sounded nearly as good with out what he did.

I think, and I could be wrong, that people think of the surf music of The Beach Boys and don’t move past that. The rest of your post chain does a good job of explaining just how good he was.
