adding this to my folder of ludicrous supposed "trans sports" bans that also includes: chess, pool, darts, sailing, Irish dancing & more. as Molly says, it's simply about removing trans ppl from the public sphere...

Except commuter rail. The LIRR and Metro-North are actually part of the problem. $243.50 for a monthly pass to get from Yonkers to Grand Central, and then another $120+ a month in subway rides to get beyond Grand Central really is an affordability problem.
On today's meeting, MTA's board chair said (paraphrasing): "Transit is not part of the affordability problem; transit is part of the affordability solution.”

was much more focused on my 35mm camera today (went through 2.5 rolls of film, late afternoon light was otherwordly) but remembered to get a few nice shots on my phone too

My nuclear hot take is that every car should have an interlock device, even with no history of DUI. No concerns about disparate applications or "wealth extraction".
The California ACLU is staunchly opposed to the ignition interlock device program and is a big reason that it has not been expanded. Despite the fact that California heavily subsidizes the cost for low-income drunk drivers, the ACLU says that the program is a form of "racialized wealth extraction."

The X-Files is genuinely a timelessly good show, because when not focusing on overarching conspiracy plot, they would really just focus on a single concept and quite crucially, it would cast an incredible actor to center the episode around who would be utterly god damn captivating to watch.

forked over the money for the blu-ray box set in May and have been watching an episode nightly with my roommates — absolutely love it. Doing things this way has changed my viewing habits, too: haven’t used a streaming service at all since we began
I’ve started rewatching some of The X-Files and it really is amazing that even a bad episode of this is exponentially better than almost anything from the streaming era.
