@erhardt Speaking of that, a few months ago the government tore down the oldest rail station in Africa, which was also in Alexandria. I also guess their plans for modernisation include removing the tram in Alexandria like they did in Cairo.

Contrary to the now standard Arabic pronunciation apparently in the mid third century AH in Kufa, pronunciations with ʾimālah of ʾalifāt maqṣūrah spelled with yāʾ was still widely considered 'good' and 'eloquent'.
