Nice long-form writing and thinking. Seriously. I do not main Linux, yet this piece gives me several interesting config aspects to think about.

BTW, weaving in the <code> tags in your sentences without disrupting the writing flow was the best touch. The conversational command-as-verb was great.

Anyway, they finally added a setting to Accessibility to disable this extremely super duper yikes awful Alt/Option key override.

Turn it off:

Settings > General > Accessibility > Keytips > Toggle the "Enable keytips" setting OFF

(This is my first time seeing this Bartender error! Fun!)

the fun part about microsoft autoupdate is <insert_word_or_phrase>
a screenshot, set against a dark green background, of a macOS window. the window's title is "Microsoft AutoUpdate." the window is small and haunting. it does not bring good news. it is a harbinger of doom. wait don't stop reading you already made it this far. anyway like I was saying, the small macOS window as you read above is "Microsoft AutoUpdate." never a good sign honestly. okay so the text in the window. not great. the first text is set in bold and reads, "Initializing. Please wait." yes that is correct the Microsoft AutoUpdate software must rev its engines before inflicting the pain upon us. the rest of the small macOS window contains a button with the text "Check for Updates." this is especially "fun" because this software could have already checked for said updates I am just saying. okay, the rest of the elements in the window are a checked checkbox with the text "Automatically keep Microsoft apps up to date." this text is extremely rich because it never keeps the Microsoft apps up to date and instead continuously demands of me its full attention. finally, there is a button with the text "Advanced..." this button is worrisome. probably not worth pressing it. nope. oh right. there is another element. the final element that I forgot earlier. there is a small button with a downward-facing arrow caret bracket character. here's the cool thing about the lil arrow button: it has a blue glow because macOS decided it was particularly important to select that specific element. who am I kidding it is probably part of the Microsoft AutoUpdate code to opportunistically select the lil arrow button. so the arrow button. if you press it then a list of available software updates will be displayed for the various Microsoft apps. why would the window not automatically want to show this? probably after user testing they determined most users do not care and just want the updates to stop nagging them. ok. thanks for reading this far. i appreciate it very much. have a great day.
