The multicolored apothica of Allophylaria campanuliformis. I thought they were quite striking. These fungi grow specifically on fern petioles in this case a male fern.

On a roll with these hyperparasites, in this case Sphaerellopsis filum parasitising the uridinia of Puccinia lapsanae that is parasitising Lapsana communis! Now I just need to find a hyper-hyperparasite, how many layers can it go?.

Ampelomyces is an awesome genus of hyperparasite that take over the conidiophores of powdery mildews and produce their pycnidia on them instead! I was lucky enough to find an example on Glovinomyves montagni and was very excited!

Pustula senecionis is a common species of Oomycete that forms large white pustules on the abaxial surface of the leaf!

Odd dark septate endophyte (?) in moss leaves. Interestingly, this moss also contained an Octospora sp.. It is always interesting to think about the possible tripartite interactions occurring within these co-infected tissues.

Did a classic amateur microscope mod and made my scope do polarizing light microscopy! Have tried many crystals but MSG remains the most diverse in colour.

Some fungal hyphae using different illumination techniques. I have been tinkering with filters and thought it had interesting results and is easily made for any standard microscope condenser! The images are of hyphae growth from a sealed slide.

Japanese truffles! I was suprised to find two species of truffles on my last hike, one revealed by a mudslide and the other just sitting under a tree root. The fungal diversity here is amazing!

Some Japanese bracket fungi I found today. Some truly beautiful colours and interesting pores! Very dry at the moment, so there were only brackets persisting apart from a few microfungi and crusts.

Google is so useless now. If you search for a fungal genus it gives you a crappy AI image that looks nothing like it at the top of the results. The other two much smaller images look about right for Resupinatus #fungi #mycology #FungiFriends

Found on old mugwort stems forming beautiful conidiophores with multiple conidial balls between the septa.

Hyphomycetes are often a hidden beauty in nature that are often overlooked!

Incredible time at #MycologyNordics after hearing about it yesterday and infiltrating the conference. Extremely interesting talks and posters. Really inspiring for an undergraduate looking to go into mycology. Hopefully next time I'll be there officially!

Ascobolus brantophilus

An under-recorded asco found on goose dung in artic and subartic regions. Similar to A. albidus however has few striae and a less variable spore size.
