In ttruth, the answer is in the middle somewhere.

And yet, I am drawn toits simplicity, to a world where everyone know each other and helps each other out. Where problems are simple and a conversation over coffee can solve them.

So do I write this world uncritically, knowing in the back of my mind it’s a farce? Or do I snide my way through it?

I don’t know if I’d be happy with writing a pastoral story without criticism. There small communities were not built on accepting everyone. The entire conceit is built upon the myth of the protestant work ethic

Pastoral watercolor scenes of simple folks living simple lives is always predicated on the assertion that simple times were easier times, but that simply isn’t true. But it solves a particular sickness that the modern world has to deal with, loneliness and a lack of community.
