Pardon the butcher of Edvard's name. His name is pronounced Moonk--not Moonch. I have heard people say it both ways. “Moonk”, I believe, is correct. But, when I made up the poem (above), “Moonch” works better because it rhymed with "loonch". (You have to have a mind like mine! Try to keep up!)

Happy Birthday Edvard Munch
Dec 12, 1863 – Jan 23, 1944

Spring Plowing 1916.

While looking at his less famous works, I wrote this little limerick:

Happy Birthday Edvard Munch
Of paintings, he painted a boonch.
Had he painted today,
in the social media way,
He would have painted his loonch.

Charles Schulz introduced children, not only to Charlie Brown and Snoopy and all the wonderful Peanuts characters, but also the outstanding music of Vince Guaraldi (and Beethoven!).

Christmas wouldn't be the same without it.

A Charlie Brown Christmas turns 60 today! Premiering on December 9th, 1965.

But CBS thought it would flop.

“A Charlie Brown Christmas” would go on to win a Peabody and an Emmy for outstanding children’s programming.

Your identity design is a tool you will use for many yrs. It is a FLAG that explains what you are all about. It tells potential clients what they can expect, & if you are well-managed––or NOT––as the case may be. What is the value of any other tool you use for 5+ yrs?? @designonething.bsky.social

This is underwhelming following last year's anemic purple. WHITE. In other words, non-committal, not enough of anything to be judged. Safe, unless you think too hard about it. Sorta like answering the question, 'what is your favorite color?' with 'clear'.

You read that white: Pantone's 2026 Color of the Year is 'Cloud Dancer'
This is the first time Pantone has chosen a shade of white. The company says it's "a lofty white that serves as a symbol of calming influence in a society rediscovering the value of quiet reflection."

Love his work. He was well known for his jazz-influenced paintings of the 1940s & 1950s––bold, brash, and colorful. It combines three of my loves: art, graphic design, & jazz.

Big data is so valuable to marketers and advertisers. But when you think about it, the things that are really valuable in life cannot be measured. Social Media thinks you are a data point. To me, you are a friend! What things should be listed on your balance sheet?

#Startups: you have a brand from DAY ONE of your small business, whether you have given it any thought or not. If you wait till you have cash flow, your brand will have formed by default, whether for good or for bad. Don't let your Brand happen by accident. Nothing great ever happens by accident.

Abraham Lincoln's business card.

It was on this day in 1839 that 30-year-old Illinois state assemblyman Abraham Lincoln was admitted to practice law in the United States Circuit Court. Lincoln knew better- business cards do not have to be boring. Anything but boring. (Read the fine print!)
