Emeritus Professor of Chemistry. Irish and American; raised in Dublin, though born in England. Happily married (hope my wife feels the same!) Travels, watching birds. Grows plants. Snarks. Lives in Melbourne Beach, on the Atlantic Coast of the stupid state
Gosh, this has totally ruined my day. In the leg, you say? Won't even make him eligible for the Darwin Award, then.

Liam Neeson is a feckin’ eejit, a ballocks, and a piss-artist. Liam will know what that is.

That’s about the only thing he has in common with Ron Jeremy.

My mood has significantly improved since I made a habit of ignoring everything in The Washington Post. Bezos has wrung every drop of intelligence from the fish wrap, leaving it a damp rag.

This is true. Getting in to Harvard is hard, unless Daddy's rich, but once you're in, it's very hard to flunk out, since a C is effectively a fail, but won't jeopardize one's standing.

Correcting your illiteracy isn't pedantry, it's my scholarly duty. Did you even finish high-school? No? Well go back and work for your GED.

Piss off now, there's a good boy. Professor is tired of your adolescent rants.
December 11, 2025 at 3:38 PM
Oh yeah, and retired professor feels bound to inform you that the word is ‘disingenuously’.
December 11, 2025 at 2:36 PM
‘Well-known’ LOL.

I’m taking that as a concession. It was fun stomping you.
December 11, 2025 at 2:35 PM
You're wrong.

There is no such thing, and therefore Ireland could not be an ethnostate. You can't face the obvious problem that Yitzhak Herzog was born in Poland with no Irish antecedents at all, and yet spoke Irish and was a full Irish citizen, with the same privileges as any other Irish citizen.
December 11, 2025 at 11:15 AM
You claim there’s a category (Irish ethnicity) which you won’t define, because you claim that only people of Irish ethnicity can do that. Surely even a person of your very limited intelligence can see the problem with that?
December 11, 2025 at 1:26 AM
Yes. The Israeli government has, via a tortured series of legal cases, decided who is or isn’t Jewish. And they privilege them on that basis. Ireland (and most other countries) don’t do that.

No one in Ireland has ever asked me what my ethnicity is.
December 11, 2025 at 1:23 AM
Now you’re arguing with straw men.

But look at the US. Census. People will claim to be Irish + Polish + German + Czech. Which ethnicity are they?
