I further entropy, usually by trying (and failing) to bring order to my little corner of the chaos.
Replacing his presidential portrait with a picture of a couple of stone feet in the desert labeled "Ozymondias" like he did with Joe Biden and the autopen. 🙄

What they're doing is the worst possible way to handle a scandal. The "right" way is to shut up, let a PR firm/spox release everything possible as quickly and boringly as possible, and then move on, pointing to the full release later on.

But don't tell them that! They might stop making mistakes! 🍿

I think "fact-intensive" is correct. The one year I taught as an adjunct at a private college had a weird mix of classes where I either developed the curriculum for a specific contract or they just handed me one from whichever Microsoft or Cisco course I was teaching that term. No ownership there.

Still wonderfully played by Sir Derek Jacobi in the BBC miniseries, though.

The things we got away with watching in my high school Latin classes... 😂

Just something I've ranted at every manager since the first Obama Administration whenever they ask me to monitor a computer system. 😅 I need to know what we care about so I can squelch every other signal as noise.

This, but for all metrics-based modeling. For humans to be able to represent anything in a finite space, we've gotta simplify and smudge and hand-wavy a lot of aspects of something, rather than even trying to represent the whole thing, since we don't have systems that can replicate the universe, yet

To borrow from Cato the Elder, "GOP delenda est."

(Fully acknowledging that he was a bastard; Behind The Bastards had a good series involving him that I recommend, Ancient Genocide and the War on Carthage)

Didn't think we could get more nihilistic than "Papers, please," but "Fuck your papers" did it. 🤷‍♂️

If they're so lawless that state-issued documents are ignored, what law are they following? Like, what's the point of law if those supposedly enforcing it choose which parts to ignore? It's pure power.

The really fun question is whether five GOPers will quit before the end of the term, say, in January, and if they do, the GOP will no longer hold the majority of the chamber, which means we might see Speaker Jeffries, or at least a Dem moving to vacate the chair.🍿

Unlikely, but it would be FUNNY. 😂

Only a member of the majority party (i.e., the GOP) can offer a motion to vacate the chair, and only if they have 8 cosponsors of the motion from the GOP.

It's BS & cowardly, but unless you can find 9 GOP members willing to take him out, he's in office until the GOP is no longer the majority party.

That's going to be really hard.

After the McCarthy affair, the new House rules state, "A resolution causing a vacancy in the Office of the Speaker shall not be privileged except if it is offered by a member of the majority party and has accumulated eight cosponsors from the majority party..."

After the war, I hope to visit Губча, the village where my great-great-grandfather was a mail carrier after the tsar freed the serfs, according to family stories ... well, until he got transported to Siberia. 😕 The rest of the family eventually moved to the US in the 1910s. See where we're from. 🇺🇦🇺🇸❤️

We've had some flickers here and there up here in Kenton, but haven't lost power, yet. Reviewed the emergency plan with the kiddo, just in case, since it can never hurt to check flashlights and make sure the emergency radio is working when you might need it. 🤞

Stay safe!

While the dude doing or ordering most of that was complaining about not getting a Nobel Peace Prize. 🙄 Been a wild not-quite-11-months. 🥃

"This is terrible, and sure, I got us into this, but I didn't think it would affect me, and yeah, I'm not going to vote or take action to fix this mess I helped create, but you shouldn't try to make me feel bad about it," is ... certainly a take. One we don't have to take seriously this time. 🙄
