Bill Bryson oncee wrote that big American corporations behave as if they don't like you very much, except hotels, airlines and Microsoft, who behave as if they don't like you at all.

This was in 1995 but it's still basically true today.

I believe this is how people are taught to drive in Auckland.

I'm not generally a drum 'n bass fan, but I do like Pendulum very much 😁

8% is nearish to 10% and thus this headline is actually 80% of the way to an accurate use of the term "decimate".

Britain's choice to impose sanctions and movement restrictions on itself will come to be recognised as one of the most stupid moves that any country has made in peacetime.

Or else it was "trucks will need to be powered by clean, green hydrogen...which we will extract in an energy-intensive fashion from natural gas..."🤦‍♂️

I like it! An old limousine would be a cool idea for a big family on long trips. Yes they are a PITA to park but they're cheap second-hand and far more distinctive than a normal car.

We love the idea of the inspired genius who conjours ideas up out of thin air.

Never mind the fact that this is unrealistic; most new things happen due to hard work by many people over a long time.

Anyone who claims to be a one-man ideas machine has merely perfected a (rather egocentric) persona.

Amazing! Then in 2016 the East-West and North South Cycle Superhighways opened. Progress continues year on year. Cycling in London is a lot more mainstream than even 15 years ago.

Here are some photos from Threadneedle St and Bank Junction in the City of London in July 2025.

See also Waltham Forest Mini-Holland, which has seen @labourstone.bsky.social repeatedly re-elected because it turns out that, despite some very loud objections, most people like more attractive streets.

Policies can prove unpopular at the time & be bitterly opposed.

I remember being told Ken Livingstone would lose in 2004 because of the congestion charge & several people told me I would lose in 2024 because of the ULEZ- we didn't lose!

...changing every five seconds:

"...glerp...tishtishtish....heyyyyyy!!!!...boomboombash....glerp....etc"

A jackhammer of inanity.

That is unforgiveable.
