It is very sad. Chef Jérémie Falissard still has the other restaurant that was next to Bocata called Barroco barroco.ca I have never tried it, but it's on my list next time I visit. As a tourist, old Montreal is my favorite place to stay in Montreal. Of course Quebec City is wonderful as well.

My favorite place was Bocata in Old Montreal. Unfortunately, it's permanently closed. Food was amazing. The chef was so nice. He even had drinks with us. Recommended it to all my friends. The best soup I had was at Modavie. I still remember it well. Need to go back.
