Six of them waiting behind a garbage truck. Driving in San Francisco requires some skill, but this is crazy.

Exactly. The question, at least for me: what was first? The ambivalence towards artificial intelligence and synthetic lifeforms, or their often scary depiction in movies and on TV.

Great point. Reminds me a bit of the opposition to cell phone towers. We want good cell phone coverage, but don't want to pay the price, at least not in our backyard.

"Does it matter that people don’t love AI? It might. Nuclear power once offered the sort of potential that AI promises today. But the public never got comfortable with a technology that could also wipe out humanity, especially after the 1979 Three Mile Island accident."

"The company has spent a few years trying to get its tractors — which are electric and supposed to be autonomous, or as Monarch calls it, “driver optional” — to catch on at wineries and dairy farms."

The US replaced the UK as global hegemon in 1945. The UK was the world leader in trade during the 19th century and boasted the largest economy in the world until 1916. It's inaccurate to say that the US was without peer in its 250 years of history.

Harrowing incident. Wonder what the story is with the Tesla safety driver dozing off. Musk is known for pushing his people hard and not compensating them well.

Right, the one I saw was crewed also. I have a photo, but it turned out blurry due to the low light. Wasn't sure what their plans were regarding Zeekr. Thanks for sharing.

Great catch! Saw a Zeekr in my neighborhood not long ago.

It's been hit and miss for me, too. Whole Foods, similar to Waitrose perhaps, has been great. They don't have any trouble moving their excess or leftover items on Too Good To Go. I wasn't too fond of bakeries. How many muffins can you eat in one sitting (among other things).

Wow! Thanks for sharing. Be safe.
