The GEORGE consortium gathered in at the UPC campus in Vilanova i la Geltrú, Spain, on 11-13 November 2025, for its 3rd annual meeting, bringing together partners from across Europe to review progress and plan the final phase of the project.

The second GEORGE Technical Forum was successfully organised at @vliz.be between 6 and 10 October.

Coolest thing ever 🤩

This morning we were introduced to the CaPASOS pCO2 sensor by the @exeter.ac.uk team, and then got to build a lite version ourselves to understand how it works. From bubbling the equilibrator to testing calibration with reference gas! 🫧⚗️

The GEORGE Technical Forum is wrapping up today with conversations around data. The participants were introduced to QuinCe, a quality control software by @icos-ri.eu. 💻

Any institution can access QuinCe for quality control of pCO2 data. 🌊

The second day of the GEORGE Technical Forum featured a visit to the VLIZ Marine Robotics Lab, a knowledge hub for autonomous marine systems, including the USVs Adhemar and Gobelijn. Many thanks to the @vliz.be team for showcasing these impressive technologies!

GEORGE partner @icos-ri.eu has published the results of the largest intercomparison study of its kind, comparing 27 instruments used for surface ocean pCO₂ measurements, including some that are now being further developed and optimised in GEORGE.

Scientists in the GEORGE project have developed an autonomous sensor for monitoring total alkalinity (TA), an essential parameter of the ocean carbonate system that until now could not be monitored autonomously.

New study alert! The ICOS Ocean Thematic Centre has conducted a major intercomparison study, testing 27 different pCO2 instruments under controlled conditions. Congratulations to Tobias Steinhoff et al. on publishing this important work!

The Sailbuoy autonomous surface ocean measurement platform was deployed yesterday off the coast of Ireland.

The platform is equipped with #CaPASOS, a system for CO₂ measurements developed and optimised in GEORGE🌊
