What I did say was if you want to get hired making video games, you should show video games and video game experience, above all else.

"Experience" is too vague - just be clear in what you're making. Is it a shooter? A puzzle game? Story-driven walking sim? Labels are good.

Don't get me wrong!

Multi-disciplinary stuff is great, tabletop experience is great, having a wide range of skills and inspirations is great, having experience doing all kinds of games is awesome. But if you're not MOSTLY designing video games, like... Unreal Engine 5 is the "tabletop" here.
