Question: Does he argue in good faith?
Trying to decide if the point I'm making below is just a bit too cumbersome for this limited character format or if he is being intentionally obtuse.

Oddly, a majority of the Statutes shown have an unoxidized bronze color (as opposed to the green reality).
I can't say why, I just have conjectures about symbolism.
A Norman Rockwell re-print is particularly interesting in this regards.
The DHS one is Bronze. The original was green.

Many are remakes of Bond Posters.
The most perverse of these states, "Remember Your First Thrill of AMERICAN LIBERTY" above the image of a ship of immigrants passing the Statute on its way to Ellis Island.
Below the image the text is changed to "SAFEGUARD AMERICANISM" from the original Bond ad.

DHS has used the Statute of Liberty's likeness in at least 16 ICE recruiting posters it posted to its X account in the last two months.
Lady Liberty had been "permanently stamped" as "the role of unofficial greeter of incoming immigrants."
DHS is clearly seeking to change that perception.

Two US Army personnel deployed at Atlantic Ave/Barclays Subway station in Brooklyn, NY this morning at 10 AM. Unclear why. Passive and courteous demeanor at time.
Identities protected as it's not their fault they're deployed, no masks, and I observed no problematic behavior (beyond presence).

Another one of the picture is from a private company ad in 1940.

A reply to composite I posted points out that the top left image (the most recent one) is a direct copy of a WW2 era US Bonds poster (just with different text).
So not AI, just an example of 1940s propaganda being rehashed. The new one here, the original in @saulyoussef.bsky.social's post below.

This is all inclusive of non-photo original posts through August 23rd. I excluded non-AI art (posted below).
On August 21st, DOL had a more inclusive post – still problematic. It's about apprenticeships. White guy is at the top and only one not in a hard hat. It's still propaganda. (See below)

1. So I posted this as a reply to a thread about the propaganda. It had a few examples. I took a look for myself. I thought this composite image did a good job of evidencing the issue while minimizing the propaganda effect
2. They did also use "freedom of speech" (below) which I excluded.

It's working in NYC. But I don't think it would work everywhere.
Look at Virginia. If the Dem wins there, she wants to (and probably will) pass an anti-discrimination bill that includes protections for trans people. But she messages that differently than Mamdani. I think that's okay.

You have to win 50% of voters to win elections.
I'm not saying you need to appeal to the people who are in the majority on these issues, but a major political party can't ignore the polling when trying to win. The way you thread that needle is inclusive messaging on human rights and health care.

He's pretty clearly on track for that. Back of the envelope math he's responsible for at least 491,000 based on COVID response.
I would argue that estimate is low since it doesn't factor in his role in spreading misinformation and the delayed initial response when he pushed to ignore it.

So please don't jump in to criticize the person in this convo (she acknowledges elsewhere that it's not a credible threat).
She did help me understand why she believes this behavior was threatening. In part it's our fundamental different view of what an image of Kirk implies.
