IMO, the Ilford Pan F+ is one of the most underrated black and white films. A strong flash from slightly in front on the right draws a high contrast, that nicely sculpts Kim's body and the bark texture of the tree.

Ich habe immer meine Oma bewundert, die auch noch im hohen Alter mit zunehmend schwächer werdenden Sehkraft recht filigrane Ornamente in und Spitzenränder an Taschentücher und Tischdecken häkelte bzw. stickte.

Hier mal Blumen auf einer Tischdecke, Gesamtgröße ca. 5x5 cm.

One of my favorite photos from the portrait shoot with Kim. A fill flash from the back right in a diffuse light environment not only gives a crisp high contrast image, but also conjures up reflections ("catch lights") in the eyes, making them shine.

"Where to put the arms and hands?" is a common beginner's question in portrait photography. Use it to support the image statement. The folded arms and averted gaze support distance. Open arms and gaze, on the other hand, support closeness.

Especially when I've just met a person, I always shoot a few classic headshots to warm up. First, I ask my counterpart to avert his gaze from me and at the end to look directly at me loosely. This procedure helps enormously to break the ice.

I met up with Kim in September for a portrait photo shoot at Friedenspark in Cologne. It was really a relaxed time, we had good conversations, laughed a lot and of course took some photos - sometimes spontaneous shots, sometimes classic staged scenes.
