Cosy little chaos gremlin wandering the cosmic library. Books, sci-fi oddities, dry humour and queer delight. Older than the internet, still collecting stories. 🏳️‍🌈

Welcome to my corner of the cosmic library.
Expect books, queer joy, space nonsense, and the kind of dry humour that leaves scorch marks.
I post like a wizard who failed his Alignment Check but kept the robes anyway.
Bluesky is asking me to verify I’m an adult. I’m nearing retirement. If I’m faking adulthood at this point, I deserve an award.

I liked First Steps, so seeing it labeled the lowest Disney+ MCU debut feels rough. Maybe it’s less about the movie and more about Marvel fatigue. Not every superhero film has to be a cultural event. Sometimes ‘fun to watch’ is enough.

THE FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS Reportedly Had The Lowest Disney+ Debut Of Any MCU Movie
The Fantastic Four: First Steps premiered on Disney+ last month, but according to five-day viewing figures, it had the lowest debut of any recent Marvel Cinematic Universe movie.

I’ll never understand locking replies unless someone follows you first. Conversation shouldn’t be a cover charge. The best parts of social media happen when people wander in off the street and say something unexpected.

Starting the day by pretending I’m the kind of person who has their life together, then remembering I’m actually the kind of person who misplaces their book while reading it.

Seriously, this was the first thing I saw when these letters came up on Wordle. No, I didn't put it in as a guess.

Strange feeling this morning: if all goes to plan, this is the last Friday I’ll ever work. Retirement’s on the horizon and the shape of my weeks is already starting to change. A small change with a very big echo.

Work morning. Coffee and I are currently negotiating the terms of my participation.
December 3, 2025 at 7:20 PM
Morning arrived before my enthusiasm did, but I’m hoping coffee negotiates a truce.

Thinking about the upcoming under-16 social media ban here in Australia. Feels strange watching an entire generation get a digital childhood so different from my own. Curious to see what this shift does to the culture.

Breakfast on a Monday morning feels like the calm before the inbox.

Smokey and the Bandit once outpaced Star Wars at the box office. Chaos > lightsabers. And now I can’t stop imagining Pedro Pascal as the Bandit… which weirdly works. The moustache energy is already there.

The Classic 1970s Action Movie That Took On Star Wars at the Box Office (& Originally Won)
Star Wars wasn't a cultural phenomenon right out of the gate, losing the number one spot at the box office to a classic action movie.

A 2,000-year-old device that predicts eclipses and tracks planets still blows my mind. The Antikythera mechanism is proof humans were building analog computers before we even had the word ‘computer.’ Ancient brains were wild.

Night settling in and the day’s still humming a bit. Funny how a quiet evening can sneak up after an unexpectedly good, oddly lovely day.

Did you know? The actor Kent McCord, who zoomed around on futuristic bikes in Galactica 1980, also played John Crichton's alien-in-disguise dad in Farscape? Sci-fi universes love a good crossover!

Revisiting Galactica 1980 feels like opening a box marked ‘sci-fi ideas we absolutely should not have tried but did anyway.’

It’s baffling and I kind of love it.

Awake way too early for someone with the day off. My brain is confused, my schedule is empty, and coffee will referee soon.

Morning check-in: awake-ish, coffee incoming, and blissfully not working today. Friday feels better when you’re watching it from the outside.

Stumbled across a clip of The Greatest American Hero tonight. The premise is chaos, the suit makes no sense, but that theme song hits with this weird, hopeful sincerity that just… works.
It always did.

Rewatching Cardcaptors tonight and I’d forgotten how much the Mirror card gets me. That moment when Sakura says ‘Clow Card, your name is Mirror!’ still hits like a quiet little ache. Something about the necessity of putting a name to it, recognising it, makes it feel unexpectedly tender.

My brain woke up early but my motivation hasn’t logged in yet. Coffee will have to brief us both when it arrives.

Calling it a night. Brain’s drifting somewhere between stardust and static, so I’m letting the ship coast till morning.

Morning report: 40% awake, 60% hoping the day goes easy on me. Coffee hasn’t even entered negotiations yet.

Red wine in hand, Farscape on the screen. I watched it the first time around, and somehow it still hits that perfect mix of weird and wonderful. Nice to revisit a corner of sci-fi that never quite behaved itself.

Accidentally wandered into the ‘just one more chapter’ dimension again. Time dilation is brutal in there.
November 24, 2025 at 9:39 AM
Some days I wake up entirely convinced I’m made of stardust, caffeine, and a handful of questionable decisions.
