Englishy things to model and share and also opinions. Former English HoD, examiner, current edu-adjacent person. Mediocre parent.
Google's "deep mind" is too deep to have a working search function or AI that doesn't just make stuff up.

I'm sure you've covered this in the paywalled section but my idea would be incentivised milestones. A year's paid sabbatical after 10 years so long as you commit to a further 5, that kind of thing.

Don't remember too many players who make such an obvious and immediate difference whenever they come on.

There's a reason they used to call comments "the bottom half of the internet"

Surely that's a full-blown "interpolation" in today's terms. Interestingly in this interview they say it's a Rolling Stones riff -- the chord move is the same as e.g. Start Me Up.

America - Simon and Garfunkel
Any number of Dylan songs but maybe Isis or Tangled Up In Blue
Taylor Swift at her best does this -- All Too Well as an example
Nick Cave -- Red Right Hand

I know you don't quite mean the same as songs with a narrative but a lot of mine are quite narrative.

I'd be interested to know what approach you advocate for managing/shepherding/monitoring the difficulty level of volitional reading. Or does one just not try. The relationship of "challenge" and "pleasure" seems like a very thorny issue to me.

My lukewarm take is that the most influential bit in the Matrix isn't the red and blue pills, it's the bit where Morpheus downloads kung fu into Neo'd brain. The mirage of acquiring knowledge and skills with zero effort is central to online culture, for better or (often) worse.
