The 2008 financial crisis started a massive transfer of wealth from the middle classes to the rich, which has been accelerating for 17 years since.
This is why the economy never recovered. And why ordinary people are getting poorer and poorer.

Low interest rates after 2008 failed to achieve any real growth or increase in living standards in the UK.
If we stopped obsessing over rates, we might see how the resources are distributed – and how it's this that's holding our economy back, not monetary policy.
