I never saw the assembly sadly, but I was told about it by others. It was especially odd as no one in the assembly was in the habit of reading the Times Ed. (It wasn't that sort of school.) So the first they heard about my article was from Mr Wells himself.

That's hilarious. I was a precocious teenager when these appeared. I wrote an article taking the piss out of them for The Times Educational Supplement. They gave it a headline like Tissue of Lies or something. This infuriated Mr Wells, the head teacher who did an assembly slagging me off.
