When cyclists are blamed for not wearing high-viz, just remember this advertisement for the 2.5 tonne all-terrain vehicle by Land Rover

Ideally suited for the school run 🙄

My walk to work today.

If we want to live in safe communities with clean air, we all have to walk+ cycle more/drive less. But there's no incentive on offer to walk so the status quo continues...

The pedestrians in this photo had to move to the right so the cars could drive along the footpath to drop their kids off. Birmingham is an extraordinary place where people will fight for the right fit for a car dominated city 🤯

This is what it looks like when Councils want us to walk more but do nothing to facilitate it

Being a pedestrian is grim.

I'm being active.
Not producing any pollution.
Yet I have to lobby day in, day out for this to become much better

@birminghamdispatch.bsky.social can WMCA decide whether Birmingham should be like London or not?

Ed Cox suggested we didn't back in August, but Richard Parker thinks we should in October. 12 weeks is a long time in regional politics!!

@tahiralimp.bsky.social supports a ban on pavement parking. These cars are for patients visiting their GP.

If we're to improve population health, it needs to be easier to walk and discourage cars.

Our health is determined far more by this than any NHS metrics

@livingstreets.bsky.social imagine being this selfish and stupid to block a footpath
October 11, 2025 at 5:13 PM
Don't park on my drive, but I'll park on the footpath. Birmingham Car Culture is optimised on Willows Road
October 8, 2025 at 4:52 PM
@livingstreets.bsky.social Birmingham is a cultural city. Unfortunately, car culture is promoted more than others.
Don't bring pushchairs to Brum.
October 8, 2025 at 7:15 AM
Here's that car. Driving along the footpath
September 13, 2025 at 2:34 PM
@richardparkerwm.bsky.social I recently contacted your office regarding what I and fellow residents thought was a terrible decision to allow the 27 along our road.

This happens every couple of weeks. It could have been prevented had TfWM listened to us

And when there's a bus stuck, drive along the footpath!
September 13, 2025 at 1:31 PM
The way people have parked is fine. We've achieved some success in preventing pavement parking on our road, but the bus is likely to undo our efforts
September 13, 2025 at 12:52 PM
@david4bkh.bsky.social 27 getting stuck again.
September 13, 2025 at 12:52 PM
This is a road in Kings Heath. There's a primary school at the top of the road.

Would you fancy walking with your kids to school past these oft idling engines?

Cities shouldn't allow these circumstances to exist.
September 3, 2025 at 7:16 AM
The same people who are against LTNs also like parking on footpaths. And the same Councils that encourage you to walk more allow it.

Ludicrous
July 30, 2025 at 8:20 PM
Kings Heath High Street. Does this look like an inviting place to visit and spend money?

A safe place for families and children to hang out?

There were SEVEN rounds of consultation to implement road safety measures (LTNs)
July 25, 2025 at 6:40 PM
Parking in and close to bus stops should be stopped. You can't get off a bus in a wheelchair and it's a big hassle with a pushchair (as I find very regularly).

Organisations ability to deliver is best predicted by their ability to achieve small and fundamental improvements
July 13, 2025 at 10:52 AM
This was 1 hour before the primary school kids were walking home

I'd like to remind anyone who's interested on what it's like living on our road in Kings Heath, Birmingham.
These two incidents occurred about 12 months apart.
WMCA have refused to make our road an LTN

If those in power can't sort it, please get out of the way of those who can
July 2, 2025 at 6:37 PM
I'm sharing my collection of LTN proposals for where I live that never happen. About every 5 years we get another that doesn't happen. @brumgreens.bsky.social we're seeking change in Brandwood. Hope you're thinking of us

If you're at #RapidEvaluation conference be good to catch up

Look at this carnage on our roads. The life years lost is horrendous. The perpetrators will not have intended to kill these people, but it's the result of societal indifference to the danger posed by motor vehicles. Ultimately because governments refuse to address road safety.
