I tweet into the abyss so that if I ever become (in)famous people will know where I stood.

Father, software dev guy, 3d printer nerd...

squatting on http://openhatemail.com which I'll probably never use because who needs that hatred
23+ years ago I studied Fourier transformations. I have absolutely forgotten everything about them and the maths associated.

It brings me no joy that I now need this knowledge to identify oscillations in complex signals

Honestly the reporting on xAI is non-existent in Aus.

Also stupid that talented people are getting fired.
My story on Elon Musk cutting safeguards at xAI is on the front page of today's @washingtonpost.com. I’m also among 100’s of reporters laid off. I absolutely loved my job my brilliant coworkers & the thrill of reporting @ the center of forces upending the world: AI & Silicon Valley’s political power

I occasionally get panned at work for being cautious when estimating dev work.

1. Estimates are always wrong
2. Today I'm really getting smashed because some features are taking a few days longer.

This is the sort of crap that will cause me to look for a new career #devlife

I worked at Lonely Plant for years. LP could have become an awesome version of Trip Advisor. Very hard to change an editorial publisher to be a digital company open to the masses.

Anyway perhaps editorial travel books will have a comeback!

www.githubstatus.com

Is this legit associated to github? I mean after a bunch of searching probably because status.github.com redirects to here...

Honestly though when shits broken I don't want to be questioning if the status information is legit

Regarding X, Grok, child abuse material and revenge porn.

Whoa that’s a lot, I hope I never get so jaded that this sentence seems normal.

I sent the attached message to my Prime Minister and well his team completely ignored the substance.

Hoping to get time in the next few days to give this a shot.

I think it is great that #github labels support emoji's! It is a nice feature.

What isn't nice is github actions still not supporting:
- parallel steps
- group emails notifications on build failure
- GHA cache (it just doesn't work)

Cheap gets this company a LONG way. I'm so close moving #devlife

Playing Terra Invicta and even on easy it
- kicks my arse
- and is a massive slog

Honestly I have a personal skill issue with this game. In that I suck and the aliens always win

I played this game a lot a kid.

I'm most nostaglic about the mini-game used to create your character. That was fun.
Dusk of the Gods by Event Horizon Software (1991 - MS-DOS) is an RPG game which happen in Norse mythology right before the epic battle of Ragnarök at the end of the world in which we are a fallen warrior tasked by Odin to change the destiny of the war!

When will Trump jump from tariffs to sanctions?

Honestly the western world isn't ready for the chaos of Microsoft, Google et. being forced to switch off services.

Gov clouds gone overnight.

Nuclear but so is the shit going on right now

How does a human with the role of 'Product Manager' keep themselves motivated?

Narrator: Jerome is carding up a feature that is complex and boring as fuck. He would almost prefer to give himself a Prince Albert

Everything is really scary and horrible, and on the utter flipside, we made these really adorable valentines.

The dissonance of seeing horror, then posting "hey buy some cute valentines" is making me feel loopy.

But also nice things persist despite terror? Ugh idk.

I noticed auto-correct being off in Gmail. I wonder if they have the balls to turn it off in docs as well!
“The trade-off is that turning off the Gemini AI features will also turn off some of Gmail's other embedded legacy features, including autocorrect, spell check, desktop notifications, and package tracking.”
Gmail's new Gemini AI features can be turned off, but there's a catch
The email app used by over 3 billion people is turning on new artificial intelligence features by default. Here's how to turn them off.

It truly disgusts me that Australian government agencies both state and federal are still using this site.

Not to mention the fact that MPs and senators have a presence there.

The #localstack team have decided to drop the free community edition. I get that they need companies using them to move to the paid plans. I'm not against paying.

Trouble is we commit to CI early and often. The cost to get enough `CI credits` is a lot. Like close to my annual AWS Bill #devlife

Marketing guy gets security questions. Uses an LLM to generate a response and sends it back to the customer. CC'ing me as the security tzar. I read that document and blind rage ensues.

TLDR security documentation should:
- match reality
- be precise
- not verbose
- reference source material

I've supported the Melbourne Holocaust Museum a number of times. A supporter connection survey just arrived in the mail. Sent before the horror of Bondi.

The violence and hatred, it is NOT OK.
