When I first read your comment I thought it applied to *all* the artistic elements in the game and I was trying to wrap my head around it the notion of poor creative direction. While I don't judge having realistic human characters as harshly as you may, I get your original comment a bit more.

As an aside, they were kind of made using "stock assets", the characters were done using the UE5 Metahuman tool. I recall an interview where they talk about the UE5 kit allowing them to do something more hi-fidelity than they could have hoped for before 5 made such things more accessible.

Oh, *people* character design. I thought you meant all characters, like enemies and gestrals.
It's hard to make human looking humans that aren't generic without being different for the sake of it. I consider that a feature rather than a failing much like anything else that leans toward realism.

Subjectivity gonna be subjective but I never saw anyone before now say the character design to be bad. What do you see wrong about them?
