I understand that Bluesky is a difficult place to put trust in the legitimacy of fundraisers. As a public figure, I can personally vouch for Marvina’s story. I’ve been in touch with her for a while now and I consider her a friend. If anybody wishes to see evidence I can share over DM.
Thank you.
Thank you.

This is part of a worrying trend I’ve seen wrt. views on DFT and ML-IAPs. Seems a lot of very good work is being lumped in with citations-chasing types.

Goodness, at least you learned this particular person is extremely unserious, I hope you need not waste any more time with him.

And they never will be replicated in the lab with that attitude! 🙄

I agree. I have said we should further spread the workload of academics by incorporating a wider range of roles and skillsets into science teams. And why does it feel like my division is in competition with other divisions? I have not seen efforts to marry the goals of different divisions.

I often think of the organising power that went into the Manhattan Project (from what I saw in the movie Oppenheimer - I am not well read on the subject). Researchers now can’t truly leverage the power of our institutions to create collaboration, without sacrificing much of our own energy.

Do you mean internally as in your research institution? I found communication/networking between theoretical and experimental departments quite lacking. Communication is centrally the responsibility of the individual researcher, but it can definitely be encouraged and facilitated more.
