Trip Thru The Collection Day 77: Cher, Take Me Home. Succumbing to disco fever on her 15th album, she returned to the charts, where her voice gave dance beats a bit of gravitas. That title track, we've all felt it at 3am in the club. #nowspinning #nowplaying #vinylsky #vinylrecords #musicsky #vinyl

Trip Thru The Collection Day 76: Cher, Stars. The first LP without Sonny pulling the strings...and one of the mid-70's failures as she tried to find her solo self. All covers and ballads, just as the entire world went disco. Rare today tho. #nowspinning #nowplaying #vinylsky #vinylrecords #vinyl

Trip Thru The Collection Day 75: Cher, Foxy Lady. Cher is a great talent, but like some other great talents (Elton, Freddie Mercury) her output is wildly inconsistent. Following up Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves must have been tough. #nowspinning #nowplaying #vinylsky #vinylrecords #vinyloftheday #vinyl

Trip Thru The Collection Day 74: Belinda Carlisle, Belinda. IMO. The Go-Go's chanteuse doesn't get enough recognition; like others with smaller voices (Janet Jackson), she gets the most out of her instrument. Her melodic instincts are terrific. #nowspinning #nowplaying #vinylsky #vinylrecords #vinyl

A reminder to myself...

Trip Thru The Collection Day 73: Carol Channing, Vanguard Theatre Showcase. Icon? Child, you don't know icons until you know La Channing. Hilarious, insightful, and utterly original. #nowspinning #nowplaying #vinylsky #vinylrecords #musicsky #vinyloftheday #vinyl

The only ones I HAVEN'T done are 5 and 28 (no kids or grandkids), 11, 17, 18 (never been to Australia/New Zealand/Tahiti), 30, 33, 35 (no downhill skiing, skydiving, or elephant riding)...and someday, I'll get to #49. But otherwise, I've lived quite a life!

Trip Thru The Collection Day 72: Carpenters. One of my earliest memories is of my mom, singing along to Karen Carpenter's luscious vocals as she cooked dinner. I still think she's one of the great vocalists of the 20th century (Karen, not Mom). #nowspinning #nowplaying #vinylsky #vinylrecords #vinyl

Be prepared for the redaction cover-up. It's coming. We will need to keep fighting until the entire truth comes out.

Trip Thru The Collection Day 71: Kate Bush, Hounds of Love. I admire Kate's musicianship so much; the layers in the production and arrangements, the viscosity of her lyrics, the sprawl of her imagination. A must have. #nowspinning #nowplaying #vinylsky #vinylrecords #musicsky #vinyloftheday #vinyl

Trip Thru The Collection Day 70: Peabo Bryson, Straight From The Heart. A frequent $1 bin disc; I'd recommend picking it up if you see it. One of the most underrated voices of his era, and charm radiates in every song. #nowspinning #nowplaying #vinylsky #vinylrecords #musicsky #vinyloftheday #vinyl

Trip Thru The Collection Day 69, Brother Beyond, Get Even. 1 part NKOTB, 1 part soul, 1 part working-class blokes, 1 part SAW Hit Factory. It somehow works, especially on "Be My Twin" and "He Ain't No Competition." #nowspinning #nowplaying #vinylsky #vinylrecords #musicsky #vinyloftheday #vinyl

Trip Thru The Collection Day 68: Bros, The Time. Isn't it weird how, sometimes, the second album meets less popular success, even while the musicality deepens and improves? It's some inverse mathematical theorem of pop music. #nowspinning #nowplaying #vinylsky #vinylrecords #vinyloftheday #vinyl

Trip Thru The Collection, Day 66: Bronski Beat, Truthdare Doubledare. Without Jimmy Somerville, Steve Bronski struggled to find the magic. "Hit That Perfect Beat" is OK, but 2nd single "C'mon C'mon" is low-key embarrassing.

Trip Thru The Collection Day 65: Bronski Beat, The Age Of Consent. Perhaps the most influential record of the 80's, certainly one of the most important culturally. "Smalltown Boy" is political AND musically addictive. #nowspinning #nowplaying #vinylsky #vinylrecords #musicsky #vinyloftheday #vinyl

Trip Thru The Collection Day 64: Brilliant, Kiss The Lips Of Life. I'm not sure how this first got on my radar in 1987 - probably Smash Hits or one of the Brit New Wave mags - but the LP was a nostalgic find. Amazing lead singer. #nowspinning #nowplaying #vinylsky #vinylrecord #vinyloftheday #vinyl

Recent Additions, Day 63: Bananarama, Pop Life. I'd never loved this album of experiments, made with producer Youth. On vinyl, it opens up nicely, especially the propulsive cover of "Long Train Runnin." Consider me a convert.

#Pluribus #AppleTV is SO much fun. Welcome back Vince Gilligan, getting us back to what television does best.

Recent Additions, Day 62: Aztec Camera, High Land Hard Rain. Shimmery melodies with a little proletariat ire thrown on top. "Oblivious" and "Walk Out To Winter" are hummable pop chiffon, enjoyable, if a little thin.

Trip Thru The Collection Day 61: Breathe, All That Jazz. Jazz-inflected Britpop had a brief late-80s moment, including this group's #1 hit "Hands To Heaven." Enjoy this with a cup of tea, on the deck, reading a book. #nowspinning #nowplaying #vinylsky #vinylrecords #musicsky #vinyloftheday #vinyl

On a work trip to Pittsburgh, and blown away by the #vinyl shops. #AtticRecords is the largest used selection I've ever seen; Jerry's is equal in size, and extremely well curated. Both affordable. Also loved #MusicToMyEar, #TheGovernmentCenter. Now to get these 50+ LPs on the plane! #vinylsky

Trip Thru The Collection Day 60: Brand New Heavies, Never Stop. I'm skipping most of my Best-Of discs in this countdown, but with so many re-recorded versions, this gets a pass. Guaranteed to make you dance around your living room. #nowspinning #nowplaying #vinylsky #vinyloftheday #vinyl

Trip Thru The Collection Day 58: Boy George, High Hat. George's struggles form the undercurrent of this LP: songs written by guns for hire, a cheap attempt at 90s hip-hop relevancy. Fascinating in its failures. And sad. #nowspinning #nowplaying #vinylsky #vinylrecord #musicsky #vinyloftheday #vinyl

Trip Thru The Collection Day 57: Boy George, Sold. George was deep in addiction recording his solo debut, but Motown's Lamont Dozier came to the rescue; in hindsight, it isn't half bad. "To Be Reborn" is fantastic. #nowspinning #nowplaying #vinylsky #vinylrecords #vinyloftheday #vinyl
