Yeah they were disputing that anything out of the norm was happening in the park and claimed park staff were working around the clock to keep it open and accessible. They neglected to acknowledge that half the staff are furloughed.

Toilets and trash are being cleaned and law enforcement activities YOSE are continuing. But those aren't the only positions that protect parks. The administration is trying to get reporters to retract or issue corrections on stories that don't align with their goals.

But I was in the park last weekend. I witnessed the activities in question AND the noticeable absence of park rangers/staff. @protectparks.bsky.social confirmed that 50% of staff are furloughed. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

It's long been an issue at the USFS, which has struggled for years with recruitment and retention. But this year there's even more pressure on firefighters who are spread thin, after the Trump Administration's severe cuts left the agency lacking key support staff. www.theguardian.com/world/2025/j...

The problem is especially grim in regions with high fire risk this year, especially the PNW and The Intermountain region, the largest region with close to 34 million acres of forest lands that stretch across parts of Utah, Nevada, Wyoming, Idaho and California. www.theguardian.com/world/2025/j...
