To be explicit: I agree “airborne HIV” is wrong and harmful and should stop being used. Where I differ is on blocking: when experts (like you) block desperate sick people for clumsy, false framing, it deepens their abandonment and drives them toward worse sources.

Without empathy or acknowledgement of the marginalization of LC sufferers or the official downplaying of the risks, misinfo will continue to be thrown around.

PH misinformation, overt/by omission, made fertile ground for this kind of thing.

All I'm saying is, these people are technically very wrong. But they're also hurting. They're out of sight, out of mind, facing a massive spin machine that means even their doctors roll their eyes at them.

They're used to being blocked. They're fighting with whatever they have, which isn't much.

To you, an educated expert, sure.

To someone whose child went to school, got LC and is now missing out on life, the thought might be "if I make a technically false claim that gets attention, maybe other laypeople who've decided COVID's just a cold (with PH encouragement) will be more careful."

Agreed, but it's at least understandable. They're trying to warn people to take SARS-Cov-2 seriously despite official wilful blindness toward a common and devastating outcome.

Public health/IPAC set this table by promoting vax+relax, hiding data.

The activists are both wrong and right.

Also that study from early in the pandemic noting supposed similarities between the furin cleavage sites on SARS-2 and HIV, that was retracted by its own authors.

I think that narrative comes from people saying "COVID causes immune deficiency, and HIV causes immune deficiency, so COVID's an airborne human immunodeficiency virus!"

Also LC activists, broadly ignored, trying to shock people into sitting up and paying attention to the risks they are facing.
