I have had tidied up this feed. If all you do is repost other stuff, and some of that stuff was VERY 18+ (WTF!) or if it's just politics, then you are not seeing this post as you got blocked. This account is for radio stuff only please. #hamradio
I have just heard that W6LG is now a silent key.

Mac Pro update. It's a beast! I gave up on Zorin and have put Mint Cinnamon on it. I compiled SatDump from source and you can the compiler how many CPUs to use. It has 24! It only took a few minutes to compile. Maxed all 24 CPUs out to 100% and the fans kicked in but it's really quiet.

Note to self: stay off eBay late at night when I am bored.
In other news: I have a Mac Pro. 12 core Xeon CPU, 64 gigs of RAM and 1 T of storage. I think I'll put Zorin OS on it.
A slight overkill for the shack computer...

Very light dusting of snow in North London. It'll all have vanished by lunchtime. #UKSnow

I have had my response to G4UQB comments about FT8 publish in the latest RadCom. I have had some email "feedback". I should be old enough and wise enough to S.T.F.U. and not get involved. Onwards and upwards. Ham Radio is, and always will be, a superb hobby.

#ISS #SSTV was still AWOL on the pass over UK at 18:50 UTC

@arissintl.bsky.social There are multiple reports of the SSTV not being heard.

The #ISS #SSTV is underway. There are reception reports already! The first pass over my location is at 19:30.

I have got the QFH antenna working at my temporary QTH, in readiness for the #SSTV #ISS event. But just to prove it was working I had a play with APRS.

XYL is taking me to IKEA today. Mostly to look at kitchens and bathrooms for the house renovation. BUT, new shack will need a new desk, so I am checking out height adjustable standing desks, office chairs, and shelves. We might eat meatballs.
November 4, 2025 at 9:34 AM
Temporary QTH, while our main QTH is being renovated, is on relatively high ground, so if I deploy my QFH antenna I might be able to RX the SSTV ISS event without going portable.

More SSTV from space. My AOS predictions suggest late evening passes over London. This is an easy event to participate in: you need an HT on 145.8 Mhz and a phone with an SSTV app.
You know that Amateur Radio on the International Space Station (ARISS) was the first educational payload on the station! So we are going to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the ISS in style!

Get ready for an SSTV event covering parts of 9 days! It's scheduled to kick off on Wed. November 12.

If you have a Rig Expert antenna analyser and need a case, then these electric toothbrush cases work really well. With thanks to K8MRD's YouTube channel for the suggestion. PLUS, Rig Expert are in Ukraine, good to support them too. 🇺🇦

Am I correct in thinking NEW applications for intermediate have to be M8 or M9 but existing intermediates can choose to keep the 2 series call?

I gave up on the #ISS #SSTV project a few days ago, bored with the duplicates! Six good images.

So I am not going mad, good to know.
Are you hearing voices in your head? The ops team also confirms there are some low level voices embedded in some of the image audio files. It doesn't appear to be impacting the images. They will be reviewing during their after-event session.
