Pardon the wet hair! (And lack of color chart in the first photo 😬) I just couldn’t wait to see how it compared!

So we’ve got pre cleaning, post magic eraser & dry UV bucket, a couple hours in hydrogen peroxide and UV, and overnight in the H2O2 and UV!

There’s definitely a progression!

Aaaack!

I forgot her in the UV tub overnight! Look how much hydrogen peroxide evaporated! Her whole side and ear are expose to the air! (Which, of course, includes the most stained part of her front left 😭)

And bath time again! Flipped sides, just in case, and refreshed the H2O2 (partly what I reclaimed from the last bath, topped up with fresh) and back into the glow bucket!

I think the next bath will be the final one - she is made of rather old vinyl, after all. She’s going to need repainting anyway!

I should have set up a better before and after shot… oh well. Maybe she looks a tiny bit lighter?

The mane is still drying (washed off with Mane and Tail shampoo) but it’s looking about the same color?

I guess the experiment continues! Back to the bath sweetie!🤣

Soo many bubbles!

From here, I can’t see much difference (I’d been keeping an eye on the spot on her left leg to see if it would come off), but she’s been soaking for a couple hours, so I figured it was time to pull her out.

Bath time again!

Majesty is back to the UV tub, now with hydrogen peroxide added to her clear tub.

Theoretically, the H2O2 will help magnify the UV bleaching effects!

She’d already been scrubbed with some H2O2 earlier, along with some magic eraser.

Will the combo be more effective? Who knows!😅

And I’m back to experimenting! Luckily I found a clear tub that juuust fits her.

Everything I read online suggests trimming the mane before the next step, but we’re in experiment town. I’m curious how much farther the hair will change color!

The tail will stay out, to serve as a color control.

Okay, so she’s meant to be my practice pony - I should go ahead and actually practice with her, right!?

Don’t have any doll hair at the moment, so I’ll use some of my stash yarn. Luckily, I have the right teal!

The old pink stripe (now white) I can’t match. How about a purple to match her eyes?

Whelp, I knew that doing a bit of time in the UV bath was a risk. Interestingly, her tail stayed the same, the mane turned a bit green!

I had to take some time and decide the game plan. My first time (as an adult) removing the head! 🥴

I have no patience 😅 or I felt the need to check in after ten minutes, take your pick.

Did a gentle H2O2 scrub and popped her back in.

The MLP Restoration Project folks show one in H2O2 (without head, mane, or tail) that looked great but I’m hoping to keep Majesty’s original hair 🤞

So one of the things I’m really excited to try is using “sun-fading” as a form of stain removal!

The before and after photos over at the MLP Restoration Project are very promising!

Thanks to them I learned I shouldn’t use the magic eraser too much, as it may be too harsh on the vinyl!

Glad I read that first, otherwise I might’ve kept on scrubbing! 🥴

Being an Adult means I can determine what being an adult means to me.

Today that means my first attempt at cleaning/restoring Majesty! She’s a gen 1 pony I bought specifically to learn with.
