Ah yes, the 70s original - nice! Only knew the 80s update myself, with updated house illustrations and that glow in the dark skull! 💀

One of my favourites as a kid. No idea what happened to my childhood one. Picked up a complete version in pretty good nick a few years back on eBay.

Genuine question Steve, how do feel about the screen size on these? When I read it was 8” with what looks like a significant border artwork around it, it puts me off a bit. I’m contemplating getting one, but unsure about the screen size.

So can I. And I haven’t had one of these in almost 40 years! 😁

Holograms, transfers, stickers, even stick n lift! I loved it all. Simpler times Steve! 😉

Double Dragon - another classic and another one of my faves. Fond memories of a 2 week holiday with my family in the late 80s, and I spent most of it in the small arcade the hotel had playing Double Dragon! 🐉 👊😁

Looking back, as a teen, there were a few solo arcade machines in different locations that I used more than full arcades. The local footy club had World Cup 90 and then Shadow Dancer. The newsagents by my school had Street fighter 2. And my local leisure centre had Rampage - my all time favourite!

After seeing your video the other day on the Evercade Alpha - I’m really tempted to get one! Oh and on the new paid entry arcades, there’s one just opened nearby so will definitely check it out!

The arcades when I was a kid had a magical aura about them, a bit like going to the movies. Probably as there were none near me, going to them were seen as a treat or something I went to when on family holidays. The closest I got at home as an 80s kid was the Star Force game - which I still have!

Also, is it sad I still remember the name of Fraser’s Husky dog in Due South? It’s Diefenbaker 😁 And the late great Leslie Nielsen guest starred throughout as a Mountie Sgt. The latter seasons suffered I think when his detective partner left the show. Their chemistry was a big part of it.

I kept saying “I watched that too!” throughout this ep! Street Hawk, Bad Influence, Due South, Murder One. And yes, Speedball 2 was one of the best 16bit games of all time imo - great 2 player game. Murder One was excellent 90s TV, but lost its way in S2 when the engrossing S1 case was wrapped up.

Now there’s some childhood memories! Loved Wide Awake Club. Tommy Boyd seemed ever present on Children’s telly for years! What were the presenters like? (If you can remember that far back! 😁)

It’s crazy to think of a time when your media hobbies seemed to revolve around the humble cassette tape! I remember upgrading to the 128k Speccy +2 in the mid-80s, which had a built-in cassette deck or ‘datacorder’ as it was labelled! Thought it couldn’t get much better than that! 😁

Think it was on BBC4 a couple of days ago. Should be on iPlayer now.
