There are lots of people doing great tech work in govt, I agree. You could however see the doubling down on “savior/expert” theme during DOGE when my timeline was flooded w/ “but DOGE work already exists, look at USDS et al” Lots of amazing work is now in the trash bc tech was seen as a work around

Very unpopular opinion, but this started with US Digital Response coming in as “saviors” during the Obama Administration. It continued during the DOGE cuts with “USDS did this work. You should keep us employed etc.” Complete disregard of Conway’s Law across all phases.

Summers was on record saying sexist and racist stuff decades ago. Any org that had him on their board has a lot more house cleaning to do.

So if those nest egg investors switched to renewables and de carbonization tech, we could slow the AI race to the bottom and speed up efforts to get to net zero. What’s stopping that sort of investment from happening? Shortly-term returns? Lack of companies to invest in?

His speculation about Boeing’s inability to build airplanes is wrong. There have been numerous reports citing dumb decisions at the top driven by quarterly earnings reports. He also entirely misses the affordability crisis in higher ed as a driver of lost manufacturing capabilities in the US

How does it benefit him directly? He promises the moon to the working class but to date has simply made their lives more miserable. His henchmen absolutely love AI, but it’s not Trump’s thing.

When has Trump done anything for anyone else that doesn’t also benefit him? His money is in oil and crypto. The banks I recall wouldn’t lend him money during his last term. He will let it burn.

Try the global anti globalization protests from the early 2000’s. A global movement of labor, environmental and indigenous people that receives zero mention ever … but predicted the polycrisis we find ourselves in today.

The US government is an irredeemably failed experiment with a racist and sexist origin that prioritizes the well being of wealthy white men over all else. It’s over. Pretending the electeds are going to save us is ridiculous.
