i adapted mine to be battery powered using 3 AA cells, and connected it to my Apple IIe using a TTL-RS232 serial converter and a terminal emulator program.

i now have an SD ELF II card and VIP hex keypad that can put my AVI ELF II into an RCA Cosmac VIP-compatible mode.
