Stalinism wasn’t only about secret police and show trials. At its core, it was about loyalty replacing competence. The military was purged of experienced leaders who were seen as insufficiently obedient, not ineffective.

I mean, it didn't SEEM like Trump cared during their last election, but basically Maduro pulled a "The election was rigged" and came out on top because he controlled everything, the opposition winner had to flee and seek asylum. I got the impression from my friend that was his MO for a long time.

Make no mistake, Maduro is a bad guy. Even a broken clock is right two times a day. So he gets the pennies thing and an OPINION about Maduro, but we've got our own laws about this stuff.

According to my friend from Venezuela, the Venezuelan people have not benefitted from the resources because a few powerful people hoard them. But I doubt that will get better, just a new boss, same as the old boss.

After the second time I pulled down my towel bar, I’m desperately searching for your video about crappy rental towel bars. Also any hints about keeping a poorly insulated apartment warm beyond plastic on the windows. We’re shrink wrapped in here and still cold! The front door is metal 😭
