Cuando los sistemas gubernamentales nos fallan y ponen en riesgo nuestras vidas y nuestra salud, debemos apoyarnos entre nosotrxs para crear estructuras horizontales de apoyo. Y debemos exigir responsabilidad al gobierno. 5/

Trabajando con trabajadores sociales, profesionales de la salud, docentes, abogados, defensores de derechos humanos y muchas otras personas que conforman el tejido de la fronteriza, estamos ayudando crear una red de apoyo mutuo que atraviese la frontera entre EE.UU. y México. 4/

Pero las comunidades fronterizas son vibrantes, resilientes e interseccionales. Y nos estamos organizando. Ayer marcamos el lanzamiento oficial de la Frontera Federation, con sede en Eagle Pass, TX, que no es solo una ONG, sino un movimiento para defender la seguridad humana. 3/

En lugar de invertir en empleo sostenible, salud pública, educación o seguridad comunitaria, los políticos y las corporaciones de seguridad privada han colaborado para lucrar a costa de poner en peligro a las mismas personas que aseguran proteger. 2/

When government systems fail us and put our lives and health at risk, we must look to one another to create horizontal structures of support. And we must hold the government accountable. 5/

By working at a grassroots level with social workers, healthcare professionals, teachers, lawyers, human rights workers, and many others who make up the fabric of border communities, we are weaving a network of mutual support across the US-MX border. 4/

But border communities are vibrant, resilient, and intersectional. And we are organizing. Today, we mark the official launch of the Frontera Federation, based in Eagle Pass, TX – not only an NGO, but a movement to defend *human* security. 3/

Rather than investing in sustainable work, public health, education, or community safety, politicians and private security corporations have worked together to profit from endangering the very people they claim to protect. 2/
