I think you can cut out "her claims" and just say "it" or just say "if she's ever gonna find him"

The crew/gang thing didn't bother me so much. I think you can clarify the intimacy of her crew and whether or not they get along with the rest of the gang, maybe? Something like "...being kicked out of their new/the major/the powerful gang"

Yeah I think the stakes are clear but we're missing a clearer picture of the conflict/antagonistic force. We know what will happen if they fail, but not why they are in jeopardy.
